Home Birth
This option provides comprehensive midwifery care with a planned home delivery.
I will be on call for you 24/7 starting at 37 weeks. Then they will come to your home when you are in active labor to monitor you and baby throughout the entire process.
I will confirm the baby's position, listen to the baby's heartbeat regularly, access your vitals, and provide suggestions and support. I will also bring all equipment for birth including emergency medications and supplies to resuscitate the baby, if needed.
You will have both myself and a well trained assistant at your birth along with anyone else you choose. I will stay 2-6 hours postpartum to care for you and your family. During that time I will perform a head-to-toe newborn assessment, assess and repair any lacerations, and support you with your newborn feeding plan.
Then your space is cleaned and you and your family are tucked into bed for a nice long nap. I will return to your home within 24-48 hrs for your first postpartum visit.
– 90 minute initial prenatal visit
– Monthly prenatal visits until 28 weeks of pregnancy
– Bi-monthly prenatal visits from 28-36 weeks
– Weekly prenatals from 36 weeks until the birth of your baby
– Comprehensive labor and postpartum education
– Lab work
– Ultrasound referrals
– Physician referrals and consultation, as needed
– 24/7 on-call availability beginning at 37 weeks
– Early labor counsel and triage
– In home labor & delivery
– Hospital transport if necessary
– 2-6 hours of immediate in home postpartum care
– Suturing of first and second degree lacerations
– Initial newborn exam with Administration of newborn medications and procedures including vitamin K, erythromycin,
– Critical congenital heart disease screening (CCHD), and newborn metabolic screen at 1st postpartum visit
– Breast, chest, or bottle feeding support
– Filing of newborn birth certificate and registration of social security card
– 6 weeks postpartum care (24-48 hours, 2 weeks, 6 weeks or as needed)
– Pelvic floor assessment and referrals
– PAP smear as needed
